We are Jeff and Jeniffer Marut. We are in the process of organizing the 5th 5k Miller Paul Marut Run/Walk for our community on September 3rd, 2011. The 5k event is the kick-off to the 40th Annual Concord Community Days taking place over Labor Day weekend. Since hosting the event we have drawn in record crowds the last 2 years of over 400 participants. The run/walk supports the Miller Paul Marut Scholarship Fund, which we started after our son Miller passed away from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome in 2005. Our scholarship supports all the schools in the Riverside Local School District. This includes 6 elementary schools, a middle school, a junior high and high school. Each year we choose a different school to be the beneficiary of a donation in Miller's name to use toward a project that can benefit a large number of students. We believe in using Miller's scholarship fund towards projects that impact many students, which is different from the traditional scholarships that are generally allocated towards one student.

Our scholarship helps us to channel our grief in healthy ways. In organizing this run/walk we are able to keep our son's memory alive.
